Scout Badge Classes

In partnership with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, MCMS has developed two classes that help students obtain their music scouting badges.

Public Speaker Badge

They call it stage presence: the ability to be yourself and make connections with people-even a crowd of people-and seem comfortable the entire time. And a great presenters’ talent for conveying their points clearly and powerfully is useful everywhere, not just in politics or on the stage. Luckily, you don’t have to be born with these skills; you can develop them. IN this badge, start the process!

Steps

Get a feel for performing solo
Focus on body language
Find your voice
Choose or create a piece to perform
Get onstage!

Purpose

When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll have found my inner performer and be unafraid to speak up.

Musician Badge

Everyone loves music! And making it is just as fun as listening to it. Whether you’re already a musician, or you just want to see what it’s like to make sounds on an instrument, there’s something for you in this badge.

Purpose

When I’ve earned this badge, I’ll know how music is made and how to perform music myself.

Classes are offered during school holidays and must be scheduled in advance.
