For people with developmental disabilities, physical ailments, and our aging population, music and Music Therapy meaningfully improves an individual’s and their family’s quality of life. Music heals our bodies, minds, and spirits.
Everyone in the world speaks ‘music.’ Every culture creates and enjoys music, and when there are language barriers, music breaks them down. In our country, music brings people together from all walks of life, of different politics and religions, and offers common ground and mutually shared experiences. Music brings us together.
Music is an art form. We are emotional beings and every child requires an artistic outlet. Music may be your child’s vehicle of expression. Music can be described as a sport. Learning to sing and keep rhythm develops coordination. The air and wind power necessary to blow a flute, trumpet or saxophone promotes a healthy body.
We as humans are able to absorb and be influenced by hearing music in the womb. And until the end of our lives we can enjoy and often make music in some way, no matter what our age.
Music is a gift you can give your child that will last their entire lives. It is a gift you can give yourself that will lift your spirits, engage your mind, and engage your heart. It will draw you and your child into a community of life-long music lovers.
