New for Fall 2013! The New Hampshire Youth Wind Ensemble

Auditions for this new ensemble will be June 17th & 18

We are very excited to announce a new addition to our ensemble offerings. This fall we will be starting the New Hampshire Youth Wind Ensemble!

Conducted by Jared Cassedy, Band Director and Dean of Fine Arts at Windham High School, the ensemble will provide a unique opportunity for students to perform with other music students from area schools who share a strong interest in music and performance.

The New Hampshire Band Directors Association named Mr. Cassedy the 2011 NH Outstanding Young Band Director of the Year. His Windham High School Concert Band was one of two high school concert bands in the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) Eastern Division and Europe to be selected to perform at the NAfME Eastern Division Conference in Hartford, CT in April 2013, and in March 2013 they were invited to participate in the Heritage Festival of Gold based on their performance in NYC in 2012. This festival highlights and celebrates the highest achieving musical ensembles.

The New Hampshire Youth Wind Ensemble provides a unique opportunity for students to perform with other music students from surrounding area schools who share a strong interest in music and performance. Working together to further their musicianship, students will have the chance to learn, grow and develop both musically and socially.  Rehearsals take place at the Music School every Tuesday night from 6:00-7:30pm with students who also participate in the Symphony Orchestra rehearsing from 7:45-9:00pm. Rehearsals will begin September 2013.

The ensemble prepares a variety of repertoire inclusive of differing styles and time periods with a focus on skill development, ensemble techniques, and captivating performances.

All students who play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments are eligible to audition.

Audition Requirements

Prepare a 1-minute slow piece and 1-minute fast piece that best demonstrates your range, level of proficiency, and overall playing skills – All State level audition music is appropriate.
