Teaching/Performance Bio:
Mr. Hitchcock has worked steadily as an accompanist, bandleader, and vocalist, including touring with the Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson. He has enjoyed playing clubs and concerts with reed players Billy Novick and Scott Hamilton, cornetist Ruby Braff, and trumpeter Herb Pomeroy. Mr. Hitchcock taught K-2 music at Tenacre Country Day School in Wellesley, and was the music director at Stoneridge Children’s Montessori School in Beverly. He has been on the faculty of Winchester (MA) Community Music School for 20 years now, teaching guitar lessons, coaching ensembles, and teaching music camps in Arlington (MA) and Winchester programs during the summer. He also teaches music enrichment classes to 1st and 2nd graders in the Lawrence, MA public schools. He loves talking about his favorite jazz and blues guitarists Wes Montgomery, Jim Hall, Charlie Christian, BB King and T Bone Walker.
