Ensembles provide a unique opportunity for students to perform with other music students from the surrounding area who share a strong interest in music and performance. Working together to further their musicianship, students have the chance to grow and develop both musically and socially. Concerts performed by these ensembles are attended by parents, community members, and MCMS supporters. These events offer a unique marketing opportunity for large audiences to see your message.

MCMS founded the Music Therapy Program in 2006, establishing the first community music school-supported music therapy program in the state of New Hampshire. Since that time, Board Certified Music Therapists have harnessed the power of music to facilitate non-musical growth within neurodivergent children and adults within school and community-based settings. Music Therapists at MCMS are committed to delivering high quality, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming music therapy services as well as facilitate adaptive music lesson programming for individuals with disabilities who have an established goal of specific music learning. In house, MCMS offers both individual and group music therapy sessions. As part of our extensive outreach program, we also provide individual and group sessions through partnerships with social service agencies, community partners, and 8 NH school districts.

Queen City Music & Leadership Program targets students from the City of Manchester who have shown an interest in music, can truly benefit from this type of program, and who otherwise would not have access to formal music education opportunities. Participating students meet at the Music School every Tuesday and Thursday for 3.5 hours. As a cohort, they meet with program coordinators and student mentors to work on leadership skills and guided practice, take a semi-private lesson on the instrument of their choice, play as a member of an auditioned ensemble, and participate in piano lab and music theory classes. They also meet with professional musicians and community business leaders in mentoring sessions benefiting from the knowledge and life experiences of these individuals. Every participating student is subsidized by at least 50% with additional funding available as needed. Additionally, loaner instruments are available free of charge. This ensures that every child wishing to participate can regardless of a family’s financial situation.
