Music for Little Ones

Research shows that children who participate in organized music education before the age of 9 develop a larger cerebral cortex. Give your child the early advantage through music for little ones! This class focuses on early childhood music development through a variety of musical activities. Children and parents will sing, dance, play instruments, and move. Parents and children interact through loco-motor and non-loco-motor chants, call-and-response, bounces, tickles, wiggles, and circle dances.

Flute Choir “Summer Tunes”

Flute players of all levels will delight in rehearsing and performing in an invigorating, positive environment. Build skills and confidence in your playing in large and small groups as Aubrie Dionne guides you through mastering repertoire honoring the summer season.

Summer String Class

The Summer String Class is open to students studying Books 1 through 4 (Suzuki Method) or music of equivalent difficulty. Each week from 4 – 6 pm, students will participate in small classes learning music theory, ensemble playing, and ending with a music history lesson.  Students should bring a bag dinner or snack to enjoy during the Music History lesson. Ability level: Suzuki Books 1 through 4 or equivalent.

Viva la Viola!

Calling all violists!  Here’s a chance for violists to really have fun with their instrument and build chamber music skills! Ensemble playing is a great way to strengthen your overall musicianship! Working in a small group, players will strengthen individual playing skills, listening skills, rhythm and technique specific to the viola. Work with other violists and develop musical friendships along with learning a wide range of music written for viola ensembles of all sizes! There are viola only, duets, trios, quartets, and even bigger, so we can accommodate any number.

Piano to Percussion Class

This is a course designed for piano students who are interested in gaining the skills necessary to transfer into a large ensemble (orchestra or band) as a percussionist.  Students taking the course are expected to have basic music literacy skills in both treble and bass clef.  The course will focus on development of instrumental techniques necessary to successful join a percussion section.  This will include, but is not limited to, percussion keyboards (xylophone, glockenspiel, marimba, vibraphone), concert snare drum, bass drum, timpani, crash cymbals, tambourine, and triangle.

Drumline/Rudimental Percussion Workshop

This is a course designed for students who will be playing on high school drumlines.  Students will focus on exercises and technique building on the various rudimental instruments as well as basic marching techniques specific to percussionists.  The four drumline instruments will be the focus (snare drum, tenors/quads/quints, bass drums, cymbals).  Students enrolling in this course should be prepared to supply their own instrument for the duration of the session.

Piano Explorations

In a small class setting with a maximum of five children, students are introduced to the fundamentals of music through movement, singing, games, piano improvisation, ear training, and reading notes. A piano or keyboard is required at home. Classes are arranged by grouping students of like ages together.

For Adult Piano Enthusiasts

Adult Class Piano Level I

For adults with little or no keyboard experience, students will learn basic piano technique, music fundamentals, note reading, introduction to improvisation and harmony, and ear training. A small class setting provides teacher interaction and practice opportunity.

Objectives: Student will learn to identify treble and bass clef notes, read intervals, count and play rhythms in 3/4 and 4/4 time.

Piano Workshop

Beginner or beyond, bring or buy a book and learn at your own pace, or brush up on your skills under the guidance of one of our piano teachers.  The student plays and progresses at an individual pace, and the teacher takes limited class time with each student to guide, teach, and answer questions. Bi-weekly private lessons are available as an option. Tuition rates vary accordingly.

Objectives: Student will learn piano technique, music theory, and increased musical knowledge depending upon individual practice and application of musical concepts.

Beginning Maestros: ages 4 – 6

A great music class for children ages 4 to 6 years old. This class explores music making with instruments, songs, and movement all targeted to the 4 to 6 year old student. Musical thinking skills including steady beat, matching pitch, reading notation, rhythmic development, and listening are developed through a curriculum of engaging age appropriate activities. Instruments are introduced throughout the 4-week session with the opportunity for students to explore instruments hands on.
