MCMS Faculty Ryan Striker teaches an online lesson.
MCMS made the transition to online private lessons beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020.
We have seen the incredible impact music has on our student’s, as their instructors have taught them online bringing music and the stability of their regular lesson right into their homes. This consistency is very important to students during this time of uncertainty. Even those that were a bit reluctant at first have shared how much they enjoy the personal contact each week, especially with “social distancing” keeping people so isolated.
A few of our smaller ensembles have also made the transition to online rehearsals. The flute choir, directed by Aubrie Dionne, was the first to make the leap and although the first Zoom meeting started a bit awkwardly, they soon found themselves laughing and really enjoying the experience.

“It’s great that the music school has found a way to “keep on keepin’ on.” I was really scared that I would fumble the technology–but it was so easy! A piano lesson with Justin and a voice lesson with Donna were both delightful and effective. These “close-up” appointments will enrich life at home and add welcome structure for sure. Thanks so much to everyone.” – Sally Lubell
Music has such an incredible power to bring people together, lift our spirits, and aid us in processing difficult emotions. During this challenging time, we believe it is more important than ever to stay connected and share the music.
