Community outreach is an important part of Music School programming.

Collaborations with fellow non-profit organizations, social service agencies, and school districts enable MCMS to provide music education and music therapy services to low and moderate-income families throughout the State of New Hampshire.

Two years ago, the Music School was chosen to be part of the Granite United Way Youth Enrichment Partnership.

Through a cooperative effort, nine non-profit organizations and five hub locations in the city of Manchester are working together to provide integrated services that focus on addressing the needs of middle school students.

Some of the musical opportunities MCMS has provided include: choruses, musical theater classes, summer camps, instrument exploration, music workshops, and rhythm circles.

We are very excited to share that Media Power Youth produced a music video
featuring our chorus of Girls Inc. singers,
directed by MCMS Outreach Faculty, Susan Wilkes.

We are very excited to share that The Miracle Project® New England North launched this spring!

The Miracle Project® is an all-inclusive theater and expressive arts program geared specifically towards children and young adults with autism and other special needs, as well as their typically developing siblings and peers.

It provides individuals with autism and other disabilities the tools to work on communication, social skills, community, self-awareness, and confidence.

For the past three years, MCMS has been providing in-classroom musical experiences for students enrolled in Southern New Hampshire Services Head Start Program.

Each week, students are given “hands-on” opportunities to play instruments while working on developmentally appropriate preschool skills such as social awareness, cooperation, impulse control, sensory integration, motor skills, and language acquisition.

The children are introduced to foundational music skills and are encouraged to “play with” music, hopefully instilling a lifelong love of musical learning that they can continue outside of the classroom.

Give to Our Community. Outreach partnerships have always been an integral part of the Music School mission as they enable us to extend our reach far beyond our own four walls. Your gift helps bring music education and music therapy services directly to those who otherwise would not have access.
