Appointed MCMS Executive Director

We are thrilled to announce Piper Runnion-Bareford as the new Executive Director of the Manchester Community Music School.

Piper earned a performance diploma from the Royal College of Music, London, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia. She has performed as principal harpist for the Baltimore Symphony, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the Nashua Chamber Orchestra, the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Maine State Ballet Orchestra, the Merrimack Valley Philharmonic, the Brockton Symphony Orchestra, and joined the Philadelphia Orchestra as a section member for their recording of Mahler Symphony No. 6. She has taught the harp since the age of twelve, and has served as faculty at MCMS as both harp teacher and as a Suzuki Piano Instructor from 2006-2014. She has taught at St Paul’s School, Gordon College, and as a general music teacher at Strong’s Foundation Charter School.   Piper brings a deep commitment to excellence in music education and a love for learning that has made it possible to lead and build community in the organizations she has served throughout New England.

Piper’s music education, teaching and performance background combined with her leadership and fundraising experience provide her with unique insight into the culture of the school, the needs of its students and faculty, and the advancement of its program offerings.

We are so happy to have Piper back with us. We hope you’ll help us in welcoming her back to the Manchester Community Music School in this exciting new role!

A Note From Piper

Dear MCMS Community,

It is with great excitement that I accept the position of Executive Director! My own life as a teacher and musician has been deeply formed by the ethos and mission of MCMS, and the amazing faculty and students whose commitment and passion are the heartbeat of the school. It is an honor to be able to serve you, the students, faculty, staff, patrons, and wider MCMS community, and to work for the school’s growth in this new season.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you in the coming weeks that faithfully support our vision and mission throughout the city!

See you soon,
