Opera Speaks Discussions ~ Massenet’s Manon & Verdi’s La Traviata

Manchester Community Music School’s companion discussion series for the The Met: Live in HD series at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord

Donna Lombardo, Manchester Community Music School voice faculty, and Donald Cox, D.M.A., Music School Board Member & Professor of Music will give us an inside look at upcoming operas in The Metropolitan Opera’s Live! in HD Series. Musical highlights, story synopsis and more for audiences to completely enjoy the coming opera!

Join us for colorful presentations exploring the historical and cultural elements with live music samples and interactive activities bringing history to life.  Come for one or both of these discussions.

Cost:     Free and open to the public with a suggested donation of $10 per discussion. Donations can be made in advance or at the door.

Massenet’s Manon Discussion

Anna Netrebko’s dazzling portrayal of the tragic heroine in Laurent Pelly’s new production travels to the Met from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Piotr Beczala and Paulo Szot also star, with the Met’s Principal Guest Conductor Fabio Luisi on the podium.

 

Discussion: Wednesday, April 4th at Manchester Community Music School from 7 – 8 p.m.

Opera Showing: Saturday April 7th at Capitol Center for the Arts at 12:00 pm

Verdi’s La Traviata

Natalie Dessay will put on the red dress in Willy Decker’s stunning production, in her first Violetta at the Met. Matthew Polenzani sings Alfredo, Dmitri Hvorostovsky is Germont, and Principal Guest Conductor Fabio Luisi is on the podium.
