Instrument Drive

Play It Again! Instrument Drive

Manchester Community Music School is kicking off a musical instrument drive and we need your help!

The Instrument Drive takes place during  March 23, 2015 – April 3, 2015, although we will continue to accept donations on an ongoing basis.

Our goal is to get musical instruments into the hands of every child that would like to learn to play one. Check your closets, garage, attics and yes even under the bed for gently used musical instruments that are no longer being played and can find new life with a student in need.

How Instruments Will be Used

We will collect Musical Instruments and supplies, such as method books, reeds, music stands, etc. MCMS will lend these instruments to students in Manchester area public schools. In Manchester, there are 8 title one elementary schools. Students in these schools are not able to afford instrument rentals to take part in their school music programs. MCMS in partnership with the Manchester School District is establishing an Instrumental Loaner Program for families to borrow instruments.  When students outgrow the instruments they return them so that other students can use them.

Where Your Instruments Go

Instruments collected for donation are first assessed by a professional to ensure they are in optimal playing condition.  Instruments are cleaned and repaired, if needed, and then become part of the MCMS instrument inventory.  We will then match instruments with students in lesson programs throughout the Greater Manchester Area. Student model instruments will find a home with a beginner student; intermediate and advanced model instruments will be borrowed by more advanced students in our private lesson program.

We do not sell donated musical instruments.
