Kaitlyn has worked actively as a freelance pianist since 2009 and has taught music lessons since 2012. Throughout her teaching career, she has prepared many students to succeed in a multitude of performance settings while remaining sensitive to their holistic needs. At present, Kaitlyn is pursuing a doctoral degree in music education at Boston University. Throughout her graduate work, Kaitlyn has developed research interests in adult music learning, compassionate music teaching (as defined by Hendricks, 2018), and the ways that music learning can contribute to wellbeing. Kaitlyn’s work has been published in prominent journals such as International Journal of Music Education and the International Journal of Music in Early Childhood. She has also shared her work by presenting at conferences, including the Massachusetts Music Educators Association conference and New England Music Teacher Educators Consortium.
