Phil Lauriat is a terrific coach who makes it his goal to get the best sound from you” – Monica Yunus, Metropolitan Opera.

This masterclass is geared toward classical singers auditioning for opera/oratorio/church gigs, theater performers, and high school students preparing for college auditions.

The class will focus on four areas. The Resume – participants should send in their resumes before the masterclass for critique. The Look – how you present yourself, clothing, personality, and professionalism. The Performance – how and what you sing. The Partner – how to make the pianist your friend.

Phil Lauriat has experience with different types of vocalists. As Artistic Director for Granite State Opera, adjudicator for NATS NH and Boston, and adjudicator for Boston Singers’ Resource and other competitions, he has heard well over a thousand classical vocal auditions.

Having performed in, directed, conducted and produced many musical theater productions all over the Northeast, he knows what goes into a good audition. His theater students have experience like being on a national tour and working professionally in Boston. And one of his high school sopranos went to Manhattan School of Music, one of the top conservatories in the country.
