“Nailing the Jazz All-State Audition” Master Class with Carl Benevides
Music School Jazz Director Carl Benevides will go over playing tips for a great NH Jazz All-State audition. Preparation for an audition can sometimes by stressful and Carl will go over approaches to the jazz etude dealing with proper phrasing and articulation as well as improvising over the B-flat Blues chord changes. On the required ballad, “How Long Has This Been Going On?” Carl will deal with the important aspects of listening, history and most importantly – interpretation. Topics such as tone production, vibrato and phrasing will be covered. Students should be prepared to play the required material so that feedback can be provided.
