David Bresnahan, Conductor, New Hampshire Wind Ensemble

Education: David Bresnahan is a graduate of Plymouth State College and the University of New Hampshire.

Teaching/Performance Bio:

A native of Manchester, New Hampshire, Mr. Bresnahan recently retired after a thirty-five-year teaching career in public schools and also as a co-creator of the Music Education program at Southern New Hampshire University. He is past president and a founding member of the New Hampshire Band Directors Association and a former Director on the Executive Board of the New Hampshire Music Educators Association. He has received “One of the Fifty Most Influential Music Educators in America Award” by School Band and Orchestra Magazine, the NH Governor’s Award for Arts in Education, the NHBDA Outstanding Band Director Award, the City of Manchester’s “Excellence in Education” award, the ”John R. McLane, Jr. Arts Award” for leadership in the performing arts, the NHMEA “Distinguished Music Educator of the Year,” and the John Philip Sousa Foundation’s “Legion of Honor” Award. However, his greatest sense of accomplishment comes from watching the progress of his past students who are currently teaching music in New England. Mr. Bresnahan is a trombonist and currently performs with several big bands and jazz combos in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
