CJ Poole, Assistant Music Director, NH Jazz Orchestra

As an accomplished bassist for over a decade, CJ has led various small ensembles; freelancing for a plethora of events and shows across New England. Throughout his musical tenure, he has shared the stage with jazz trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, the late NYC pianist and Benny Goodman Alumnus Derek Smith, Count Basie vocalist Ms. Carmen Bradford as well as the late guitar legend, Bucky Pizzarelli.

Encouraged by Pizzarelli, he turned his attention to his singing voice where he enjoys performing the “Great American Songbook” with a bow to the interpretations and vocal stylings of Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé, Bing Crosby and Bobby Darin. CJ has entertained audiences both locally and nationally, singing as the featured male vocalist for the Capital Jazz Orchestra. In addition to performing live, CJ is heavily involved in the business aspects of running professional ensembles. As a radio guest, he has also been heard sharing expertise in various repertoire and interpretations of 20th Century Swing-Era Big Bands and their respective “crooners”.
