Audition for the NH Youth Symphony Orchestra

Come play alongside the best youth musicians in New Hampshire in the largest ensemble program north of Boston.

The NH Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mark Latham, is comprised of advanced level

players to age 20.  This ensemble performs high-level symphonic literature for advanced string, wind and percussion students.

Membership is based on ability, experience, and a total commitment to the program. Students are expected to spend a substantial amount of time practicing their music outside of rehearsals and to attend all rehearsals. Students must take private lessons, but are not required to study privately here at the school. The ensembles prepare two programs each year for concerts in January and May with additional programs for special events.

Symphony Orchestra auditions for 2012 – 2013 Season are being held at the Music School May 29, 2012 from 3 – 8:30 pm and May 31, 2012 from 3 – 8:30 pm.  Call the Music School Office to schedule an audition time.  Download the audition requirements for all instruments here.

Mark Latham, NH Youth Symphony Orchestra Conductor

AGSM Guildhall School, London; B.M. Philadelphia College of Performing Arts; M.M. Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music; D.M. A. orchestral conducting the University of Michigan. Studies with David Takeno, Masao Kawasaki, Zvi Zeitlin; orchestral conducting studies with Kenneth Kiesler, Larry Rachlef and Marin Alsop. Has been active as a violinist, teacher, composer and conductor in North America, Europe and Africa. Former faculty Memorial University, Newfoundland, Canada. Conductor/Music Driector of numerous performing groups, including CAMMAC, in Quebec; the Nahsua Chamber Orchestra; the Avalon Chamber Ensemble; the Life Sciences Orchestra, in Ann Arbor, MI; the Campus Symphony Orchestra at University of Michigan; and the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of the University of Michigan. Music festivals include Aspen, Spoleto, Banff. Recordings with Black Auks improv ensemble and Atlantic String Quartet. Current faculty at Concord Academy and University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
