Manchester Community Music School offers musical opportunities for all ages. See below for current adult ensembles.
The New Hampshire Wind Ensemble brings together musicians from a wide range of ages with a desire to broaden their artistic level while performing a wide array of professional and compelling repertoire.
Wind Ensemble is designed to:
• Supplement the fine instruction students receive from their high school programs • Provide an opportunity for adult musicians to continue their love of performing
challenging wind band literature in a community ensemble
• Offer music educators an opportunity to utilize their performing skills in a large ensemble
• Provide like-minded, multi-aged musicians with advanced proficiency the opportunity to experience the joy of performing masterworks and contemporary wind repertoire
• Make a positive contribution to the musical environment of the community
No Formal Audition is Required! Acceptance into the New Hampshire Wind Ensemble is through an open rehearsal process.
The 2018-2019 Season will begin on Tuesday, September 11th.
Rehearsals run from 5:45 – 7:15 – the first two rehearsals will be open rehearsals to give musicians an opportunity to experience the group.
We are looking for musicians that are musically motivated and desiring to further develop their musical abilities. Musicians do not have to perform at an all-state level; however they must have their own drive, work ethic, and commitment in order to take part in this ensemble. Musicians should expect to perform music at grade levels 4 and higher. All musicians with a love of music making in a large wind ensemble are encouraged to participate.
Tuition: $475 for a Full Year – tuition also includes Summer Band participation for 2019
(Public school teachers can join for free!)

For players of any string instrument looking for ensemble playing, including guitar, mandolin, ukulele, string bass, and others. The Folk String Orchestra is a group of musicians who are continuing the old-time British American music tradition. Many of the tunes in this tradition have roots reaching back to the musical traditions of the British Isles. Today’s String Bands play all styles of music, including classical, folk, jazz, country, and bluegrass.
There will be plenty of guidance and coaching from the instructor on how to come up with your own parts, improvisation, creating solo breaks, fills, harmonies, bass lines and chordal accompaniments; how to listen and respond to what everyone else is playing, and how to blend in effectively as a band.
This ensemble meets for the full academic year, and will perform in conclusion of each semester. Additional performance opportunities will be available.
