New students and their parents are invited to attend an admissions interview or telephone consultation with the Education Department, scheduled by appointment. This consultation provides the opportunity to ensure appropriate placement, scheduling, and orientation to the program. The school’s policies and procedures will be reviewed at this meeting, and plenty of time is given for any questions the student and family may have.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is payable prior to the start of classes each term. Payment plans may be negotiated with the office; however, a multiple payment plan does not invalidate the obligation to pay for the entire semester. A non-refundable registration fee of $30 per student/$60 maximum per family is payable annually. Payments may be made by check, VISA, or MasterCard.
Lesson times are scheduled at the mutual convenience of the student and teacher, are permanent for the year. Tuition includes 32 private lessons, 2 workshop or performance opportunities, MCMS recital accompanist, and a variety of MCMS workshops, guest performances and master-classes are included. Regular attendance is expected. Only lessons missed by the teacher or due to school closing will be made up. Rescheduling is arranged between the student and the teacher. The office staff does not schedule make-up lessons or rearrange the individual teacher schedules from week to week.
Manchester Community Music School maintains an active tuition assistance program. Eligibility is based on merit and financial need. Tuition assistance application forms are available in the office, or on our Tuition Assistance page.
Manchester Community Music School reserves the right to cancel any class not meeting minimum class enrollments. Should the School cancel a class, a full refund will be made.
Students may drop private lessons during the first three weeks of the term when the Registrar is notified in writing. Refunds for private instruction tuition will be given, less a 20% service charge, for the remaining lessons of the term. Tuition for group classes is not refundable.
In the event of a weather-related emergency, the Music School the school will post an announcement on closings and delays on WMUR, our website, twitter and Facebook pages. With regard to classes and lessons, weather conditions are monitored throughout the day during storms and if there are any changes they will be posted on our website and social media. Please contact the front office if you are not sure.
Our website will carry timely information regarding delays or cancellations due to inclement weather. You may also call the office at 603-644-4548 for further information. There will be a message on the phone greeting if no one is in the office.
The School is located in historic north Manchester, at 2291 Elm Street in the classroom building known as Holy Cross Hall for the former Notre Dame College. The School office is located on the main floor, and waiting areas are available throughout the building.
Parking is available in our Trenton Street parking lot, with accessible parking and entrance available via the driveway at 2291 Elm Street. If the Trenton Street lot is full, we suggest parking on Trenton Street or Elm Street. Please follow all parking instruction signs on other area residential streets.
Manchester Community Music School has a management plan for the safe control and maintenance of asbestos containing building materials found or assumed to be in the buildings. The plan is available to the public and may be accessed by contacting Mr. Joe at 603-623-3155 ext 148.
